Here are some pictures I took the other evening. It does not really matter what evening you come here, weather it is a Friday or a Tuesday. The spirit of festivity always hangs in the air. We took our bikes after dinner yesterday evening and joined Aaron and Carol for one of the concerts taking place at the river.
The little boats with their knitted roofs cross the river back and forth bringing people from one shore to another. Then you got all the swimmers.
The beautiful promenade a long the river banks with many of the old beautiful houses and homes. Even if they are beautiful I am glad I am not living down here. If you do live here you just have to be fine with the bustling sounds and music and all. You got to be able to sleep with your windows open even if it is far from quiet.
Lot's of restaurants and places to eat or have a drink at.
Very busy times for the ice cream vendors. Who can say no to a cone of delicious cool Italian gelatto.
You are right in the city center but still it feels like you are on the beach. People are walking around in bikinis, enjoying a picknick or about to jump into the water or drying off after a refreshing swim.
Fun to see all the little bobbing heads on the surface and all the colorful watertight bags that people keep their clothes and belongings in as well as use for floating.
I don't mind staying in the city at all because this is a lovely summer city to be in.
You got the cruise ships going up and down the river with various dinner themes or music night theme.
A perfect place to stroll on a summer evening and just take in the sights, the atmosphere and everything going on or hanging out with friends.
Or maybe even having a romantic evening...
We had a great evening enjoying the music.
Yesterday was one of those gorgeous and perfect summer evenings when the temperature was just right. A perfect night for enjoying a concert on the Rhine. Last night was the opening night of a series of concerts that they are playing on the Rhine. Organized by the city and free of charge.
It was kind of cool because they had built up this stage for the band out in the river so they had to bring the band out in a small boat.
Plenty of people sitting on the shore enjoying the balmy summer night and the music. It was a sort of latin-reagge mix music that they played. I liked it.
Today the celebrations for Swiss national day start in the evening. We are heading down to the Rhine again to see the fireworks. I am all exited about that as they are supposed to be quite impressive I have heard. Got to make sure my camera gear is ready. Hope to get some awesome pictures. Fire works start at 11 pm. Before that there will be more music and a number of food stands and other stuff down there as I have understood.
