The year is coming to it's end. Here are a few pictures that I have selected of some favorites and highlights for 2015. It's been a good year and I am grateful for that so let's hope 2016 will also be a good one.
The Alps in early spring. I find the Alps beautiful through all seasons. We took our Swedish friends and visitors that were here in early April to Murren. The tiny Crocus flowers had just become visible.
I find the views of the Alps equally breathtaking each time I go. I have now lived here in Switzerland for almost three years and yet the beauty of this country is something I still find stunning.
What better way to explore the French country side of Alsace than by bike. Living in Basel offers so much as you have the proximity to both France and Germany just around the corner. One of the bike rides we enjoyed in May together with our American friends living in Basel. Together with them we have made many fantastic bike rides.
Passing fields, vinyards and following small country roads. Pausing for lunch in a small village somewhere a long the way. Plenty of exercise as these bike rides often took about 8-9 hours to complete.
We are going to miss them so much now that they move back to San Francisco in January. Carol is missing in this picture. But having friends in SF will give us every reason to go there and visit them there. I am so impressed with all the long bike rides that Lillie 10 years old made. She would keep up with our pace and do about 80 km in one day and never ever did she complain or whine.
Enjoying a French breakfast in the Red city of Tolouse in France. Finding a small café and ordering a Petit Dejune.
Walking the old and narrow streets of small French country side villages. Staying in a tiny bed and breakfast perched on a cliff over looking the hills and fields.
Meeting up with my brother and his family at the French Atlantic costal town of Arcachon. Got to meet my new little nephew for the very first time in June when he was 7 months old. Later in October in Stockholm me and C would become very proud God Parents of these two adorable ones.
A fantastic evening over looking the blue ocean stretching out into the deep horizon. Great food and the most beautiful sunset together with my brother and his family made this into one of the most memorable and perfect summer evenings of 2015.
This year I did something for the first time since I moved here to Basel. I swam in the Rhine river. You don't really swim but more float with the current downstream. The cool water of the Rhine was a true blessing this hot hot summer.
One of the craziest down pours ever happened this summer as we were leaving the Basel out door cinema. The sky just opened up and the rain poured as if we had been in the tropics. We were ever so grateful for the rain ponchos that were handed out from one of the cell phone companies hosting the out door cinema event. They saved us.
We did two canyoning experiences this year. One in France and one in Spain. This was the first one in France. The repelling part is probably the one I like the most.
A trip to one of the most beautiful places that I have ever seen and visited. The hike through some of the parts of the National park of Monte Perdido in the Spanish Pyrenees. I only know I absolutely have to come back here and see more of this.
Stockholm early October. We were lucky and Stockholm showed us some of it's finest fall weather with plenty of sunshine, blue skies and crisp temperatures.
One of the fun events ending this year was the Christmas bake off we did as a SWEA event at IKEA. I have now been a board member for SWEA Basel for one year. It's been fun, educational and challenging and I hope to be elected for another year.
