In my neck of the woods

This is what is going on here right now. Basel is as green as it has ever been due to the rain we have had during July. On and off it has been quite rainy. This year it has not been as hot as last summer. I kind of prefer the temperatures between 20 and 30 that we have had this summer. No swimming in the river this year as the currents in the river have been too strong due to all the rain. Nor did we go on a float along the Aare river with the rubber boats as we did last year, too cool and again the rivers are too wild to get into due to the high water levels.

August is harvest month. The peaches are getting ripe. Here in Basel there are both peach and apricot trees.

We have had the joy to harvest our very own tomatoes. So sweet and yummy. Homegrown just tastes better than anything else.

Lot's of beautiful and pretty flowers in bloom right now.

Even if we only have had one week of vacation we have used the weekend for plenty of fun activities such as biking and hiking. Two weeks ago we went biking and at the end of our ride we had lunch overlooking this panorama view over Basel. Not bad, huh?

Last weekend I made this watermelon drink that was sooo good! Watermelon, lime juice and some cider with some mint leaves. So refreshing.

Blackberries and apples are ripening. These blackberries shown here are far from ripe but it was a picture I took a about a month ago. I picked some perfectly ripe ones and made my very first batch of blackberry jam the other day.

Pears...
Delicious raspberries...

This is a funny looking flower that we have. Have no idea at all what it is but I find it beautiful.

Today it is cloudy here. Supposed to rain later on this afternoon. I am packing and preparing for our weekend in the Alps. We are joining friends that have a cottage up in Grindelwald for hiking and biking weekend there. Looking forward to that a lot.

Kram!
