We had one of those Sundays where we did not know what to do. The weather was unpredictable and unforgiving. I read about this place and we decided to go and check it out. It is pretty cool that a big company like Ricola have these beautiful herb gardens that you can visit at certain locations throughout Switzerland.
Somewhere about a 20 minute drive from Basel out in the vast countryside. Dramatic dark skies and the wind sweeping through the tall grass.
I like the fact that you find yourself out here in the countryside in no time at all. Basel is not a very big city and the beauty of the green hills and plowed fields is something you reach easily.
The fields with the wild flowers were just so pretty. Among the neatly planted fields of different herbs they had left patches of wild flowers.
A lot of different kinds of mint. I had no idea there were these many kinds of mint. Actually my favorite Ricola is the mountain mint. I always have a small box of these in my purse.
Being out here is truly the genuine countryside with farms and cattle. We passed a small village where you could by milk directly from the farmer by filling up your own bottle with fresh milk. They also sold cheese, honey, eggs among other things. Pretty cool right?
I thought it was beautiful out here. Very peaceful and quiet but here as in many other places of Switzerland the landscape is just so pretty.
At the gate by the herbal garden there was a little box with information about the gardens as well as some free samples of Ricola candy to try out.
We passed this little furry guy that looked up at us taking a break from his green meal.
