Saturday I told you I was heading to the farmers market, well that just didn't happen after all. Two reasons. First we were kind of late or too slow on Saturday morning so the market was about to close when we were getting there. Then it was also raining so hard it just would not have been so nice. At the farmers market you want to be able to stroll around and take your time. Enjoy the surroundings, to a little bit of tasting and taking a few pictures. But, I did make a stop with my camera on Friday morning at the local farmers market in Basel. So I will show you those pictures instead or meanwhile.
First signs of fall. The apples are beginning to appear. I love buying produce at the farmers market. It all feels so fresh and you feel good about the stuff you buy. You buy local stuff that is in season. The fruits and vegetables that have been grown and tended with a certain amount of love even I believe . I made an apple pie Sunday and it was so good that me and C finished it all off in one evening.
I am a sucker for berries of almost any kind. The raspberries are so good and the goose berries I haven't tried yet but they certainly look sweet and delicious.
My favorite picture from this particular day. Love how the fresh yellow apricots have spilled over inteo the black shiny blackberries.
It is such a pleasure to walk around here. It all looks so good. I would want to buy a little of everything. It is almost hard to choose. Well on this particular day I didn't buy anything as I was still counting on our plans to head to the German farmers market the following day.
I did make a stop by the little coffee cart. One of the students at German class just said they had the very best coffee here. Great taste and fair trade coffee. Well, it turned out it was really good coffee. So maybe this is something that I should pick up as my little Friday treat before going to German class, a nice yummy cup of freshly brewed coffee.
The Rhine is one of those great summer places. It is THE place in the summer where it all happens. Now that summer is coming to an end the crowds and picknickers are getting fewer. We did see a few people still swimming in the river.
Well now I am heading to class again and hope I will make it there before the rain comes.
