Last of summer or first of fall

I just love all the Farmers Markets that are around here. Saturday is the big market day. There are farmers markets going on in all three countries that we are able to choose from. I have wanted to visit the Saturday market i Lörrach in Germany for some time now but somehow it did not happen until now.

There is just so much going on and so many regional specialties to choose from. I have visited the one here in Basel and also the French Saturday market in St. Louis. I must all say that they have their differences and unique flair and character.

Love buying local produce in this way directly from the farmers. Everything just seems so much more fresh and fun to buy here compared to the regular supermarkets. People watching is almost as much fun and entertaining as buying goods.

The German market had plenty of flowers, fruit, veggies, cheese, eggs, bread and all kinds of jams. If you take a closer look at the larger cheese to the right it is covered with various herbs to flavor it.

Plenty of fruit juices and various fresh herbs.

The plums are in high season now. There are also plenty of yummy peaches.

Fall is here after all. The pumpkins start popping up both in supermarkets and on regular markets. The Germans are also huge fans of fruit flavored schnapps.

Today is a grey day here in Basel. It is also kind of chilly right now in the morning but it may get nicer and warmer during the day. I am looking forward to a walk with my German friend C. Then I got spinning class and this evening we have a SWEA mingle and meet event.

Kram
