Steets lined with French flags. A stop by the local Boulangerie for some delicious fresh baked bread. A little piece of heaven just stepping into one of these boulangeries with all the divine pastries and the scent of warm bread just out of the oven.
From France we crossed the Rhein river and suddenly found ourselves on the German side. The German villages are different but equally cute with their little timbered houses.
It is a pleasure just taking in the green country side roads passing by rolling hills, fields and vinyards. It is all so lush right now in various shades of green.
We ended up finding this little tucked away gem somewhere in Germany called Badenweilen. A picture perfect pretty little town with thermal water springs and a number of elegant bath houses and spas.
Plenty of elegant fountains.
Badenweilen in itself is worth a visit. It is filled with charm a long it's cobbled stoned steets. Small shops, coffee shops, restaurants, wine and beer "stubbes".
Not only will a visit here let you to enjoy the warm relaxing waters. Good food and good wines also seem to be something you will find here. We passed by a few of the small local wine shops.
The ruins of an old castle on the top of the hill.
Bright yellow fields of Canola flowers. I am so glad we ended up finding Badenweilen. Sometimes having no specific plans can lead you to some of the best places. Sometimes some of those tucked away gems are right around the corner as well.
We have had a great and very relaxing extended weekend. Monday today and we seem to have a bit of a cold front passing by Basel. Yesterday and today we are getting temperatures just reaching 12 degrees Celcius. Too cold to enjoy the porch today.
