The offshore race around the island of Gotland on the Swedish eastcoast started today. Waved goodbye to C and wished him good luck yesterday. Several hundreds of boats are competing so there were many different start groups. From Söder I had a great view as the different groups of boats set off until the bay was completely filled with boats criss crossing their way out into the open sea.
Many people were standing watching the boats take off from various points around the city.
Saturday was a sunny and beautiful day. A big short term harbor had been built and created for the race and start that took off in the city center by Blasieholmen and Skeppsholmen. A lot was going on in the race village that had been set up and it drew a lot of people that we eager to take the chance to see the boats up close.
C sailing boat was parked next to the big old ship Af Chapman that is one of Stockholm's most beautiful and special hostels.
Off he sailed. I am sure he will have a lot of fun but he will also probably be very tired when he does get back. There was a lot of things to prepare before the race started today so it has been a busy week for C.
I am staying in Stockholm enjoying the nice summer weather. I love just taking long walks with my camera. I also plan to check out some of the summer sales that are going on now. Today I am going to make flädersaft with a friend for the first time. Something I look forward to.
